Reading 03

 For reading task Week 3 I had quite a task to complete. Although I have had some difficulty with getting into the swing of these reading tasks I believe that I am now getting better.

For this week I researched Active and Passive reading. Although at first they seem to be one and the same and not that different. Active reading involves actively thinking about the content you are reading rather than merely absorbing the info. It also involves considering where said information comes from, who created it and is the creator biased in anyway

However. Passive reading is wildly different as instead of seeking to gain more knowledge the reader merely absorbs the information without thinking twice. Instead of questioning anything in the text the reader accepts it at face-value and doesn't dig any deeper, looking for other sources to backup the claims presented.

Active reading will be critical for the book I am contributing to.

Game Brainstorm

 There are many possible games that I could make for the project  One game that I believe could make for an interesting experience is A dungeon crawler type game, This would be one that has the player endure a dark and grim fantasy dungeon. The dungeon would have a specific aesthetic, whilst there would stone walls, jail cells and perhaps a portcullis and a drawbridge there would also be hints that this dungeon has some sort of magical power which the player must fend off but can see occasionally. Whilst in this vile pit the player would need to fight various horrid monsters, these could include ogres, goblins, orcs, dragons, hellhounds, demons, giant insects and skeleton warriors. In truth any creature from any and all myths and legends could find their way into this dungeon, there could even be a level with a sea monster which has been trapped underwater and now feeds on whatever adventurers it can catch. Game Idea Research

Previously I considered a variety of ideas which I could translate into a full video game. However most of the game ideas were far too big for me to do. I believe that there was a single idea that could work very well. Creating a racing game where you drive about on a long stretch and try to avoid traffic. I firmly believe this would be better for my current skill level. A game with more scale would require more time and likely more members. I also believe this link could explain why my peers could enjoy a racing game One mechanic that I believe would work very well is actually jumping. In the game I used to play you could jump over traffic. This was vital as the longer you played the faster you went. It was a very fun mechanic, seeing a large taxi leap over other cars in a cartoonish manner always brought me endless amusement as a child. New obstacles would also benefit this game, such as overtaking buses and other fast vehicles. Although there could be other types of obstacles added
