Time Strategies

Image
It is undeniable that an organised schedule is vital to longterm success. I haven't been very good at following schedules in the past but for this year a timetable is essential, not just for this module but for the entire course. Some of the ways which I can better organise my time are by having a detailed schedule of work I need to do and when to do it and give what I'm working on at that moment all my attention.  Timetable Source: Flickr Two articles which I found very helpful were  How to Beat Procrastination  by Caroline Webb 3 Steps to Recapture Time  by Joynicole Martinez I felt these articles contained great tips & tricks on time strategies & defeating my arch-nemesis, Procrastination.

What I hope I will achieve in Technology this year

Image
I am already familiar with bookmarking as throughout the years I have bookmarked countless websites, in fact last summer I spent a great deal of time removing obsolete bookmarks. Whilst last year I had a blog I only used it for uploading images, having a for writing and various other purposes is very different from previous classes. One thing that I'm very excited for and hope to become very good at is creating my own graphics. My thoughts on the Assignments for this course

Image
For this course one of the assignments I am very excited for is the Unity3D Trials. This assignment will be unlike anything I have tried before and the thought of being able make a very basic game is very interesting to me Notebook Source:  Flickr One of the extra-credits options which instantly grabbed my attention was the fact that I could gain extra credit by simply commenting on my classmates blogs. I believe that this is a great way to gain more credit and also increase social interaction between students. This is especially important given the fact that students weren't able to have any social gatherings during the first year of the course.

My New Growth Mindset

Image
I had never heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before today, however having learnt some information about her I have to say that it is a very intriguing idea and I strongly agree with with the ideology. I also connect with the philosophy on a very deep level. During both secondary and primary school I had the idea in my head that I simply wasn't good enough and can't get better. I can't deny that if I had only received a "Not Yet" grade then I would have had a much different outlook. To be completely honest, I would have to say that after spending most of my life in a fixed mindset, that I now believe I am in a sort of transitional period between the fixed and growth mindset. Since leaving secondary school I believe I have been making progress in changing my mindset and becoming much more positive. Shadow of War My Favourite Game

Image
Shadow of War is a 2017 game set in the universe of Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’. When I purchased this game I didn’t know too much about this game, this actually helped my enjoyment as the game far exceeded my expectations.  In this game you play as Talion, a ranger of Gondor who was returned from death after bonding with the wraith of an elf named Celebrimbor who died centuries ago. But you won’t be alone, throughout the game you can recruit orcs and trolls into your army in order to conquer the many fortresses and entire regions of Mordor. Only after this will you be able to launch an assault on the Dark Lord Sauron and avenge your wife and child whom were executed by Sauron’s forces in the previous game. Image from Shadow of War Source: Flickr My favourite part of this game was the ‘Nemesis System’. When I first heard about this I assumed that the ‘Nemesis System’ was just a marketing ploy and wouldn’t play a large role in gameplay. Naturally I had become very sceptical wh...

Robbie Cahill Introduction Multimedia Development

Image
Welcome to My Blog - Robbie Cahill B00132167 This is my first Test Blog for the second year of multimedia development  Hello my name is Robbie Cahill this will be my blog for Multimedia Development in my second year of college in Creative Digital Media Course, at Blanchardstown college. I am very excited to begin this brand new year of college and have a wonderful experience with all my fellow students. But before beginning I would like to give a little introduction and share some information about myself. During secondary school I was very shy and quiet, I made it a point to keep to myself and never really interacted with any social or extracurricular activities in my school. I didn't get good results in tests and didn't have high hopes for my leaving cert.  However once I got my leaving cert results I did far better than I ever thought I could, thanks to a combination of rigorous studying and grinds. After finally putting Secondary school behind me I had another conund...
